We only have Dixit 2 and got the rules from the geek, then use pen and paper to record scores. Really, all you need are the cards (and the rules).

Really, really good game too, but for some reason it fell flat with kids. Too abstract I think.

The cards in the original game are a bit stronger. The Dixit 2 cards tend to have less going on in them and are more often harder to match to a variety of ideas.

yeah but you don't get the cat staring into the crystal ball....which is the the most awesomenest card in the world! I wanna get a tat of that!!!

(I'm also particularly fond of the hungry purse card).

But yes, I agree, a set of d6 dice and poker chips are really all you need along with the cards.
