Now that we've got a few months with the Great Subdomain Project of 2010, I took the top 100 under the Party Subdomain, grouped them together as I saw fit, and calculated bayesian averages for each group of games. Below, you'll see the Top 40 shakeout.

Here is a poll to see which (if any) of the highest rated party games are actually deserving of the title "Party Game"
Poll: Which of these are party games
For each item, note whether or not it is a Party Game
  Of course! Maybe Certainly NOT!
1 Dixit
2 Time's Up family
3 PitchCar
4 Drawing games
5 Baron Munchausen
6 Wits & Wagers games
7 Tumblin-Dice
8 Say Anything
9 Liar's Dice
10 Bausack
11 Werewolf +clones
12 Bang! series
13 Kaleidos
14 Cash n Guns series
15 Word on the Street
16 Jungle Speed
17 Red Dragon Inn
18 1000 Blank Cards
19 Start Player
20 Smarty Party
21 GiftTRAP
22 Adios Amigos
23 Pow Wow & Coyote
24 Balderdash family
25 Dancing Eggs
26 Tokyo Train & Aargh!Tect
27 25 Words or Less

1. I'm not 100% sure on dexterity games like Pitchcar and Tumblin' Dice.

2. Bang is way too convoluted to be a party game, and Ca$h 'n' Gun$ is borderline.

3. Red Dragon Inn tops out at 4 players. WOW what a party yuk

4. Start Player isn't even a game, it's a game accessory. Sure it can be used in a party game setting but it also can be used before a strategy game, a children's game, or even a wargame.

What he said.

In my personal definition, a good party game should easily play 6+ players, even if it still scales well down to 4 (e.g. Apples to Apples).

Early results say that the Party Subdomain Top 40 misses on these items:

#3 PitchCar
#10 Bausack
#12 Bang series
#14 Cash n Guns series
#16 Jungle Speed
#17 Red Dragon Inn
#19 Start Player
#32 Hex Hex Nut
#34 Hart an der Grenze
#39 Light Speed

And the verdict is pretty much split on these:
#5 Baron Munchausen
#7 Tumblin Dice
#9 Liar's Dice
#13 Kaleidos
#18 Blank Cards
#22 Adios Amigos
#23 Coyote/Pow Wow
#25 Dancing Eggs
#33 Objets Trouves
#36 Dalmuti
#38 Pit

Which leaves this as the true Party Game list at this time:
1 Dixit
2 Times Up +
3 Drawing games
4 Wits & Wagers +
5 Say Anything
6 Werewolf +
7 Word on the Street
8 Smarty Party
9 GiftTrap
10 Balderdash +
11 25 Words or Less
12 Tokyo Train/ArghTect
13 Rhythm & Boulet
14 Apples to Apples
15 Attribute
16 Cluzzle
17 Barbarossa
18 Compatibility
19 Things...

Now, that's a pretty decent ranking of true party games, as seen through the eyes of BGG.
