I have just discovered - through the drawing of the appropriate event card - that the French armed redoubt does not come into play unless and until the event card is drawn.

Like many, I suppose, I had assumed that all redoubts were in play from the start as there is no distinction in the rules - all allied units etc. being referred to as 'Spanish'. Hence the ambiguity.

It might be as well to know this before the 'Spanish' player begins construction of a second corduroy road ready to place a French redoubt which doesn't actually exist until the arrival of the siege train.

This was pointed out here (http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@815.XSpbbsyKxbF.30@.ee6d...) by the designer, along with a couple other errata.

Thank you very much for that. I posted a query on the Savannah site but I suppose it applies to all the BotAR series -

Do artillery units count for 'AC' results or just the combat units involved? I wasn't sure and have always assumed they were exempt. Can you help her?

Thanks again

I'm pretty sure they are exempt from any combat results since they do not participate. I know for sure they do not roll for morale checks (which can sometimes leave them alone on the front line!) I will cross-post your question on CSW and see if we can get an official response from Mark.

Well, looks like I was wrong. Consensus is that they are susceptible to AC results just as they are susceptible to morale checks for other results.
