Variable payout - ratio of card-count to points
Points awarded in the board game are based on the distance between the cities involved. That distance is measured by the standard number of train tokens required on the map. A higher train count means more points.
The ticket cards here also pay more for longer distances, but the measurement of completion is in the number of train CARDS a ticket requires. I was moderately surprised at the variance of points awarded for a set number of cards. That is, tickets of the SAME train card count can mean DIFFERING points.
The body of this table shows the count of Tickets in each category - the value of Points awarded and the number of Cards required to complete the Ticket.
Required Cards 1 2 3 4 5 =========================== Points| | 5 | 2 |------------------- 6 | 3 7 | 1 8 | 1 9 | 4 10 | 8 |------------------- 11 | 4 12 | 2 13 | 3 14 | 3 15 | 2 |------------------- 16 | 2 17 | 3 18 | 1 19 | 2 20 | 3 |------------------- 21 | 1 22 | 1 | ========================== Total | 2 17 14 11 2 (46)
On average a single train card returns 4.36 points, but the range is from 3 to 5.
