Just a brief update. The reference cards for Judd's Cities of Adventure: Sands of Al-Kalim are in their final stage of development. Once they are finished, I will have Judd review them for approval. Pending that, I hope to have them available within in a week. And in the meantime....

I did SoAK next because it was the one big box expansion that I had. I recently acquired Island of Dread for my birthday, along with a bunch of other gaming goodies. But likely Barb and I won't get to IoD for a while, as we are barely about to dip into SoAK. So, I'm wondering which reference cards other people would like to see next.

So far, Judd has also produced CoA material for Midnight, Isle of Dread, and Frozen Wastes. I don't know if he intends to do Mists of Zananga. So cast your votes here (if you feel like it) by listing in order any of these three (or four) sets of reference cards you would like to see next.

If you have a question you can post it here, send me a PM, or go to Fantastic Diversions and use the "Contact" page.

The initial card content is now complete. I still need to do some color correction on some of them. I will contacting Judd for his review as well.

In the interim, others are welcome to preview them and offer any suggestion as seen fit, though Judd's comments will take precedence.

You can find the online review gallery HERE.

My CoA variant for Mists of Zanaga is coming along nicely, although I have been very busy with school and work of late. That said, I have a four day weekend coming up which may be just that little bit of extra time I need to get it all finished up and posted. Of course now that I have these new CoA cards for Sands... I'm sure I'll have to play 1 or 2 games of that as well.

As for the other expansions, I would love to see cards for all of them, but the ones I play the most are Sands, Frozen Waste, and now Zanaga. The Isle of Dread has seen more play of late as well thanks to all the play testing on the Savage Tides endgame variant, and since I do enjoy the random chaos that sailing brings. Midnight get far less play, is out of print, and almost impossible to find, so I wouldn't worry about that one until last.

Great work on the SoA cards, you really did a wonderful job capturing the theme of the expansion.

Judd

Thanks Judd,

So far, comments from off the forums has targeted Frozen Wastes as the next preferred set of cards. After that, Isle of Dread, which is fine with me, since I won't get to playing that soon. And I'll watch for your work on Zanaga some time in the future... or just drop me a note.

It's likely I will finish up with the SoAK cards later today. I will put them up my blog first, announce them here and at the FFG RB forum, but wait to upload them here until after the weekend, giving you time for last minute corrections.

You CoA has given a lot to players, Judd, so the least I can do is make a card design worthy of them. Time to start thinking about a FW design while work on finishing another project for Talisman... and maybe a little something for Dungeonquest.

UPDATE:

I heard back from Judd on the CoA cards for Sands of Al-Kalim. One result on one card (Trader's Fort) needed to be tweaked. The archive has been updated and remains in the same location. I'm awaiting any further comments from Judd, but I think this set of cards is close to done. I'll give notice here when I finally load it to BGG.com, though it might take a week for it to appear the Runebound: Sands of Al-Kalim file section.

Final Release:

Judd has given final approval, and I have just uploaded the CoA Reference Cards: Sands of Al-Kalim package to BGG. Hopefully it should appear in the files section within the week. In the meantime, the finalized package is available at FantasticDiversions.blogspot.com.
