After seeing other companies make special cards / items available through BGG, I wonder why these D&D promo cards haven't gone the same way?
Or maybe they will?
Just in case anyone at WotC is reading, that would be my suggestion. Although not sure I should get my hopes up.
And yes, I know you can print them off. Obviously that is not the same, or else people wouldn't be paying $40 on ebay for a single card.

I second the idea. They could make a small fortune selling them through BGG. I'd pay $5 for the 2 promo cards in one package. Maybe eve $10 if some of that went to BGG.

Promo or not, $5 is pretty steep for two boardgaming cards.
I do however like the idea of such being made available through BGG.
I think that if it hadn't been for the word of mouth generated through BGG, this game wouldn't be half as successful as it is.
Think of it as a way of giving back to those who promote the game, rather than rewarding scalpers who went to Gencon.

"I knew and ordered CR exclusively because BGG."
Edited: promo game components are just annoying, bad taste, want none.

FYI, all 4 Designers of the Castle Ravenloft game are Registered Users here on BGG. If you go to the main listing for the game, you can click on their names and send them personal messages. I suggest we ALL hammer 'em w/messages...!
Like most of you, I too am really disgusted w/this promo crap that PUNISHES people who learn about the game after-the-fact (like I just did a couple weeks ago) - AND - I purchased the game almost instantly.
WE who are willing to BUY [for a REASONABLE price] the 'stuff' we couldn't get for free [just over a MONTH ago] because we have responsibilities and families and JOBS and don't have the time or inclination to be galavanting all over the country just to snatch up a few giveaways and freebies at various gaming Cons....!!!!
Sorry for venting....it just gets....IRRITATING....

Just print out the copy of BBG -- and use this variant. Credit goes to NOT ME and the full variant is posted somewhere.
* Print the card. Do not shuffle it into the Monster deck.
* Once three Monsters of the same or similar type as this Monster card (eg. three Kobolds for the Kobold Champion) have been killed, put this Monster card in play the next time a Monster would show up.
I like this variant, since, not only are you not spending $50 for a piece of flimsy cardstock, these promo Monsters become special. They're not only not random Monsters, but their appearance builds up.

Same here. Had no idea about the game until I saw it on BGG.

This really should be a BGG product. Simply because it's not the money to be made on it - no the money made from any of these special promos sold be the Geek is to help keep the Geek here.
Needless to say that Castle Ravenloft wouldn't have taken off as fast and as far in such a tiny span of time without the Geek.

Print out the card from the gallery and glue it onto one of the extra cards. Currently the price is $1 + postage for that solution!

I agree, but they should wait until Legend of Drizzt hits and put all 3 promos for the trilogy up on BGG Store for $5 to have all 3 shipped.

Three promos? The only ones I know of are the Gray Hag and the Kobold Champion. Did I miss something?

This is high on my radar of promos that would be great to distribute through BGG. Unfortunately, I'm having a heck of a time getting a response from anyone at WotC. If anyone has any contacts related to WotC, I'm all ears!

Even though I do not play this game anymore, I'd like to thank Chad for at least attempting to make the promos available through BGG a reality.
I hope someone can direct you in the right direction.

Please keep us posted if something comes of this!
And don't forget to ask them about the Kobold promo too...

That if you kill him with the pill from the till by making with it the drug in the jug, you need not light the candle with the handle on the gâteau from the château.

I have purchased many promos from the Geek and they are great. I also bought the game because I found out about it from this site. Heck 90% of my collection is because of this site. I would instantly purchase a pack of promo monsters.
WotC could even make a larger promo pack with all of the villians as monster cards. So you could randomly walk into a room and face a lowered power version of the dracolich or a young red dragon. That would add a lot of variety to the game.

Having run DnD game days for years (literally years since the Drow one in 2005?) I occasionally get the support material from WotC.
I got the Grey Hag card, but neither of the others, nor the most recent GM reward adventure.
But it is worth noting the card is nearly useless to play with, because it's not the same size as the other monster cards from Ravenloft!
So any shuffle will quickly reveal the Hag since it's larger than the other cards and sticks out the edge of the deck.
I wouldn't be spending good money on buying these card on ebay.
As mentioned earlier I'd be more inclined to create a "semi-villain" by printing the card and putting it into play under certain conditions - if a particular environment card is in play when a monster type comes into play: then so does the hag.
Don't waste your money buying them from scalpers.
Edit: Ok so my copy of the latest GM reward adventure AND the LoD promo card turned up this week. Thank-you Wizards

Just ordered all three games, and browsing the forums for extra info and tidbits...I'm totally going to have to steal this. So, even if it's not your idea, thanks for posting it here...I may have somehow missed it otherwise...=)
