I've gone though the picture gallery and added a bunch of tags. To help keep things straight in the future, I'm going to explain my reasoning behind my tags.

5th-Gen = The 5th Gen Ptimanya frame.
actual-play = These are photos from an actual game.
CHKR = The CHKR frame.
classic = The classic Mechaton frame and any variants built from it.
crab = Any crab like mecha such as Soren's Guncrab or my crab mecha.
diorama = Any staged picture with scenery and background, Zeekhotep's come to mind.
lego = Self explanatory.
mecha = Self explanatory.
mechaton = Self explanatory.
MgN-302 = The MgN-302 frame from Jed September.
ruler = The game ruler from the Mechaton rulebook.
space-CHKR = The outer space variant of the CHKR frame.
spider = Any spider-like mech.
STMP = My STMP frame.
tank = Self explanatory.
walker = Any walker, from chicken walkers to AT-ATs.
weapons = Any discrete weapons or load-out for a mech.

Please feel free to list your tags and the reasoning behind them so we can come up with a clear and concise list of tags for the Mechaton picture galley.

Good Idea! We might also make a list of scale tags to indicate what scale a particular model was intended to be, or what scale a game in progress is.

Mini-fig(S) - mini-fig = human
Micro-fig+(S) - 7 plates = 6 feet
Micro-fig(S) - 5 plates = 6 feet
Two-plate(S) - 2 plates = 6 feet
Tile(S) - one tile or plate = 6 feet

Trophy(S) - one mini-fig trophy = human
Game-fig(S) - one Lego game figure = human

Nano(S) - any scale smaller than tile
Fleet(S) - a type of nano scale where the ships are one scale and the fighters and mechs are another.

You may have noticed that three of the scales that I listed are equal to "human" and not 6 feet. This is due to the shape limitations of the Lego figures. Try building a "scale" model of any SUV that can sit three people accross one row of seats in mini fig scale. Then put a mini-fig standing next to it. The mini-fig will just barely clear the hight of the scale wheel, where a 6 foot human would stand about the same hight as the SUV.

I'm not so sure about that. The scales I try and work at don't fall under the categories you've set down, and I'm sure other people's work is similar. I think the best bet on that front would be for people to put the whatever potential scale might be into the description of the photo itself.

I reposted my list of scales on my blog right after posting it here. I added that I knew it was not complete. I even mentioned that Mechaton can be (and has been) played "non-Lego" in 1/144th scale. The list I made was of scales that can represent infantry or civilians using Lego elements. There are some I left off: three plate, four plate, six plate, and all the increments between seven plate and mini-fig. If you want to go larger you could use a technic figure or one of the other large scale Lego figures. If the scale you prefer is not one of those then you most likely are not using infantry in your games, or not representing them with Lego elements.

What scale do you prefer?

The photo in your flickr account with the three trucks that I commented on several days ago looks like its in 3 plate scale.

I started a new thread so we can talk about scale there. Lets keep this one for talking about picture tags.
