While playtesting this map, we had a few questions that came up and got answers from the publisher and designer that may be helpful to others. Many (most) of these should be clear from the rules but just in case here are the ones I remember:

(1) Can the Swap Kontor bonus marker be used in the green/yellow cities?

No. there are no shapes of traders and/or merchants.

(2) If a player gets displaced from a sea route and the only adjacent spots open are merchants, but the player has no merchants, are they permitted to move the newly placed traders on a route that is further away? Does it have to be the closest legal position or can it be anywhere?

If a trader gets displaced on a sea route with just an open place for a merchant is like a full trading route (for the trader).
First you have to look for the closet legal position on the adjacent trading route. If there is no free place then you look for a free place on adjacent trading routes to the routes which are full and so on.

(3) Clarification on placements into green/yellow city:

First: green/yellow cities have no predefined spaces.
Second: Using the "Extra Kontor" bonus marker you can:
(a) place a trader/merchant into a unoccupied green/yellow city (which is impossible in normal cities - there you need at least one already placed Kontor) or
(b) place a trader/merchant on the left side of an already placed Kontor (normal rule).
Third: If you use the permanent bonus marker you can place a trader/merchant from your supply (not stock) into any of the three green/yellow cities, on the right side of all already placed Kontors if there is already a Kontor.

(4) If the game would end (due to reaching 20 points) due to activating a sea route, does the player still get to use the permanent bonus marker?

Yes, the game always ends at the end of the action which triggers the end. And as the use of the permanent bonus marker is part of the action "Establishing a trade route" you still can use the permanent bonus marker.

(5) With the permanent bonus of move two or deploy two resources on the board, do the sea route requirements need to be met? (i.e. can a cube be placed on a circle space?)

Yes all normal placement requirements need to be met. A trader cannot go on a merchant space.

(6) With the Improve Privilege permanent bonus marker, are you able to use it in the middle of the claim route action in order to place a Kontor in an adjacent city space that you would otherwise not have been able to?

No. That is why the rule states that using the permanent bonus marker is the last part of the action "establishing a trade route."
