The guardhouse being occupied protects all your cubes on the board? As in the WHOLE BOARD and not just the palace?

got my expansion saturday...we actually played Revolution sat night, but with 4 players did not use the expansion...it seemed to me that it's really meant for the 5-6 players, and that with only 4 players (and the new bidding boards) there would be less confrontation/battling over the bids AND just too many extra spaces on the board...maybe make the game less competitive and drag on a little longer than we're used to...(WE LOVE THE GAME..one of the most requested with friends!!)

I personally prefer to use the Palace with 4 players. Yes, there is a bit less confrontation during the bidding phase, but with the Messenger, Mayor, and Guardhouse, the tension on the board remains just as high.

Plus, I really like pulling off a "Viceroy/Messenger/Mayor" combo -- four cubes into the Palace in one turn!
