I played Go west last night with another hard core gamer friend of mine and it was a very interesting gaming experience.

I have owned the game for a year or so and have played it many times but this was my first time playing Go West as a 2 player game.

The game started off very squed towards player 1. Player 2 had a very bad hand with all cards costing very little thus doing not much with regards to control placement or movement. Because of this player 1 was able to play a number of big movement and placement cards thus taking control of the game and scorring twice thus getting around 8 points ahead of player 2. The next 8 to 10 turns consisted of both players going back and forth playing medium size cards thus making alot of changes to the game board but player 1 still had a huge advantage.

Finally around the half way point in the game player 2 finally drew a few of the larger cards and was able to make a few key playes, meta gaming on the amount of money player 1 had left, where player 2 was able to take control of the majority of the board and then use his 2 turn market to score twice with each scoring giving him 7 more points then player 1. That double scoring made him jump player 1 by around 7 points.

The next few turns consisted of both players playing smaller cards to move things around and then once player 2 had enough money he scored again when he was getting 5 more poitns then player 1 thus hitting the 50 point mark and ending the game.

I dont really like the flow of the game for two players because its back and forth and there isn't as much strategy as in a 3 or 4 player game where control is constantly changing and you need to be much more strategic in your plays and scoring.

Nobody wants to play with me Go West, I think this is an underrated game. I don't know why everybody dislikes this game I find very interesting. More than a year and a half unplayed in my shelves but I'll keep it trying to find better days.
