Just a simple variant. In the original FITS rule, a card is drawn and all the players place the same piece. In this variant, a card consist of the 4 player color. Each player will place different piece according to their color... This adds some randomness in the game, hence the title Totally Random...

Any thoughts on this?

A sample is done. If you guys think that this is something worth adding to BGG, I'll post the files here.

I'd certainly be interested in printing off a copy for myself...not sure quite what to think of it, but I'd love to give it a try.

Shouldn't you limit the starting pieces to those which do not guarantee uncovered dots? Seems a little unfair to make one color start with a negative while others do not.

I assumed that you use the original start cards, but draw these four-different cards for the rest.

Ahhh, I think you assume better than I do! That makes more sense.

Great idea! This would be a great for an Artscow deck if you want to get a deck printed up. Since there are sixteen tiles, you can create three different sets of decks in a 54 card Artscow deck for a little extra variety.

Which creative person is going to put one together?

You're right the four empty cards are for the start cards.

I think this will not add much to the game much but the random cards will at least add some variety to the game. I noticed during my games with my wife, though the start card is different, my wife will always 'copy' my moves... and win me most of the time.. . With this she go no choice but to plan her own moves...

This is not play tested yet so I can't be sure whether it will be good for the game but it's worth a try. I'll post the files later in BGG, I hope you guys can give me some feedback on this.

Actually I got more ideas with these cards, maybe some additional rules. I was thinking maybe distribute the cards evenly to the players, on their turn they can take turns to play the card and other players must place the pieces on the card.... just an idea... I would love to hear some feedback...

I've uploaded the file, now waiting for the BGG admin to approve. I've created 4 sets. You guys can choose which set to print, hope you guys will enjoy.... I basically change the color around. Basically you can create hundreds of different sets by changing the color and arrangement of the pieces, if anyone is interested in taking on this, please GM me and I'll send you the source file in Illustrator.

The PDF consist of 4 layers. You need to select the layers you need to print. Below is an image showing how to turn on the layers in Acrobat Reader.

You're most welcome... Idea is good not too sure if it will be fun though... .. Artscow? Well I don't think I will do it, never tried it I really have no idea how it works... You're free to do it if you're familiar with Artscow...

Anyway, getting it print in your local print shop will be very easy I'm sure. After printing just stick it to a cardboard and cut it... I'll try to get it done and post some pic here when I'm free...

I can put it on the game crafter. And I can even have it be no profit for me. The cards wouldn't be square but that's fine.

I would need permission from the person who developed this image.

Feel free to do whatever you like with it. If you need the source file (in Adobe Illustrator) pls GM me and I'll send it over to you.

Cool. The cards aren't square on the game crafter, but that's ok.

The concept can be extended to blokus too. So I might make more cards for that. Perhaps for blokus I'll provide a different set of cards that try to give each player a same count piece. It'll mean that at some point all players will be forced to play the same piece (because there is only one piece that has one square, same for two squares). The variety comes in once you hit 3 count pieces. In Blokus you'd have to play the piece if possible. If not you could put it aside and opt to use that piece instead of the card if possible later. Then you'd have another extra piece. Also you'd still play until you can play no more. So if you ever ended up with more extra pieces at the end you could still play, then you keep playing until you can't. That would be pretty tight to add a random element to Blokus. It might give unexperienced blokus players a chance against me. :P

I'll want to be careful in my description on the game crafter to not point out blokus or fits because at the very least, the game crafter will get some profit (I like to support them, so I don't mind making this to add to their store and not increasing the price to make myself any profit). I'll state that the cards can be used to expand "Pentomino" based games.

Great idea. Actually when I started this 'little project', I wanted the cards to have some 'special abilities' as well. Apart from playing the pieces as stated on the card, the card will also state some special actions e.g. Switch pieces with other player (attack), pass the card around (everyone will pass their card clock wise..), maybe some defense cards that prevents other players from 'attacking you...

I think once you get started with cards, you can create lots of varieties. No doubt cards will have random elements but everyone will have the exact 'same abilities' on the cards. And cards can also create interactions which is lacking in the current game...

I've been very busy with work so I can't finish what I started, I certainly hope that you can take on the task and share it here in BGG for the rest to enjoy... Good luck...

Excellent. Yea, some tetris style player vs player interaction could be cool. Having it in the cards would make sense.

Letting you:
shift someone's piece on their board.
remove one of their pieces
exchange one of their pieces with one of yours
drop one of your unplayed pieces onto their board
etc...

And there'd be extra room on the cards now. A square in a rectangle leaves room to provide actions/abilities to the players. They could be color coded like everything else. Or the person who gets the ability could be the player who is losing from last round. Or it could be granted to someone if they meet certain conditions.
