Why in the four rotating stones, the monster turns to the right while the arrows on the stone have a rotating anti-clockwise?

I think that the arrow is supposed to indicate that the wall makes him go to the right. That is, when the monster "hits" the wall, only the arrow closest to him is really in effect. I see how this can be confusing -- but think of it as a single sign on the wall telling him to turn right, rather than as a sequence of arrows indicating a spin direction.
