I just played four quick 4-player games of Zombie Fluxx in a row.
The first game ended real fast when M. (the only new player) drew the Ungoal on his second turn with about 8 zombies on the table and played it just for fun.
The second game lasted about 10 minutes, then M. drew the Ungoal. This time he played it because he was forced to by the Play All rule in play. Again, everybody lost.
The third game lasted about 15 minutes, and became quite chaotic once Adrenaline Bonus was played by the player before me. I had three zombies, drew two more during the draw step, and there was a Draw 3 in operation, so I had to draw 8 cards and play 6. But since I had no Keepers on the table or in my hand, I had no way to win. Since it was Zombie Season, I killed one zombie, which caused my Pair of Zombie cards (2 of 'em) and my Zombie Trio card to head off to other owners. I had forgotten that the number of extra plays from Adrenaline Bonus would be changed by losing zombie cards, so that ended my turn immediately. M. was sitting to my left, and he had enough zombies to draw many cards. And since Zombies Ain't So Bad was in play, he was able to fulfill a goal during his turn. Victory to M.
Our fourth game ended up with an interesting result. After about 5 minutes of play, I ended up with four cards in my hand after my draw, all of which were Goal cards. There was a Play 4 in effect, so I was going to be forced to play all my cards. And one of my goals would make J. win, while the other one would make A. win. I was in the classic kingmaker position.
My solution? Bribery. "Who'll pay me to make them win?"
J. decided to go along with me and paid me $4 to play his goal first. So I did, and J. won our last game of Zombie Fluxx for the day.
I just made real money on a board game.

I've never played the Adrenaline Bonus that way. I've always played it that you get one extra draw and play if you have any Zombies in front of you, not that you get one extra draw and play per Zombie.

Hmmm neither have I.
I'd be surprised to learn if it was per zombie, seems odd that you might be picking up 10 more cards just through a bonus. Normally the bonuses just add 1 extra of something.
But being Fluxx, who can tell?

Got the impression he's not ... a very "definitive" sort of chap

And that's him on the Friend card isn't it? Giving the thumbs up in his tie dyed shirt?

It's true that the Friend cards in Zombie Fluxx bear a striking resemblance to Andy and Kristin Looney. And while they're both self-described hippies, they are also both former NASA engineers.
Andy has given many definitive rulings to many card interactions in his card games. There is a list of FAQ documents here.

Sorry, you were indeed playing the Adrenaline Bonus incorrectly. It does not compound with each zombie you have, it just adds 1 if there are any zombies up in your business.
But congrats on making money as a kingmaker!

Just checked the card, and you're right; the text is unambiguous, and we were playing it wrong. Whoops.
Edit: *rmunn sees who he's talking to*
Heh. Of course you're right about this game. By definition.
