Hey guys,
The sonic tranquilizer card says "The player who has this card on the table can ignore any Zombies they have when trying to win." Does this mean: A) The player can choose certain Zombies to ignore (e.g. ignore just 1 Zombie, ignore 5 Zombies, ignore all Zombies etc.)? OR B) The player can choose between 2 options 1. ignore all Zombies. 2. Don't ignore any Zombies.
Here is an example of where this may apply. 1) The goal is "I'll hold 'em off" (You win if you are the only player with a Zombie Creeper, and you have on the table the Shotgun or any other Keeper that can be used as a weapon.) 2) You meet the requirements for "I'll hold 'em off" (a few zombies and a shotgun), but you also have "Larry The Zombie" ("You can't win if you have this card, even if the Rules or Goal currently allow for victory with Zombies...") 3) You also have the "Sonic Tranquilizer" (see above). With these 3 conditions could you use the Sonic Tranquilizer to ignore Larry The Zombie and win?
Thanks,

When I first posted, I said, "You win." Now I'm not so sure. There are two FAQ answers in the Zombie Fluxx FAQ that deal with this, but it's not entirely clear how they interact. I'm still inclined to say that you should win, but I'm not sure this evidence supports that interpretation.
Quote: Q: Does Zombie Repellent work on Larry The Zombie? What about Sonic Tranquilizer?
* A: Yes and Yes. Larry is a Zombie, so the Repellent will drive him away just like any other Zombie. As for the Tranquilizer, it says you can ignore any Zombies you have when trying to win, so if you have the Tranquilizer, it's as if you don't have Larry. (Unless "It's Not Working!" is in play, of course.)
Quote: Q: Is the Sonic Tranquilizer optional?
* A: Yes. The Sonic Tranquilizer is a device with an off switch, so if you don't want to ignore your Zombies, you don't have to. Any card that says "can" or "may" is optional, according to the choice of its owner.

Based on the answer to ST being optional, it reads to me that the ST is an all or nothing device. It has an off switch, not that you're aiming it.
So, if you use it to avoid Larry, you no longer have the other Zombies around to fend off.

Since the card says "any" rather than "all", you may pick and choose, IMO.
