Anyone using the second edition Axis & Allies vehicles (the second edition is supposed to be 15mm scale unlike the first edition) with Flames of War? They're still quite expensive on ebay but some vehicles like halftracks and occassional tanks seem worth the money if you're willing to add some paint detail and camo etc.

Anyone know if the scale is good enough? tried it? tried it and sucked?

i haven't tried it, but i've thought of it too. They are the same scale (1/100), so it should work. Plus the A&A vehicles are pre-painted, so why not? If you keep your eyes peeled, you can see the A&A stuff at hobby stores for a decent price. It would be close enough to not really matter for Flames of War.

On that note, i believe the aircraft used in FoW are 1/122 scale. So i can't see why the occasional airstrike couldn't be conducted with Wings of War: WW2 Miniatures models. it wouldn't hurt my feelings, that's for sure.

I played in a tournament a couple of years ago where one players entire list was made up from Axis & Allies minis. the list not only looked just fine but generated quite a bit of interest from the other players. If you have the minis or are looking at using them because you can source them cheaper I say go for it!

I've made up some gaps in my force with a purchase of aircraft and vehicles - just waiting for the delivery now, much cheaper than metal and if I base them up and do some mud and camo touch up's I think they'll be great.

Saying that the 15mm version of A&A minis are still hard to find or expensive on Ebay - anyone have any cheap sources?

I was thinking about trying this, plus some of the new plastic 15mm soldiers from Plastic Soldier Company as an inexpensive way to get into FOW. But when I asked the owner of our local friendly game store, he said you had to use the official FOW minis in a tournament. Is that true? Or just something he imposes on the tournaments he hosts?
