OL Avatar: Sorcerer King XP: 25/75 Plot: Obsidian Shackles OL Upgrades: Sir Alric at Riverwatch, Lord Merric at Dawnsmoor, Lady Eliza at Misty Plains, Snipers, Siege Engines, Silver Eldritch
House Rules: Divine Power: this was voted on and everyone was on the same page.
We start our session in the middle of week 8, where the heroes have an important decision to make. Alric just destroyed Riverwatch, Merric is in Dawnsmoor and Eliza is knocking at the door at the Misty Plains. The heroes just trained up a few skills, healed up and everyone in the group got a silver dice upgrade. I am soon to learn the power of Marksman on Landrec with a blast weapon and 4 surges. I helped them go over the pros and cons of making this important decision. First and foremost, I told them about the Secret Master Trainer and how it worked, and it may or may not be a good choice to try to get there before the campaign hits silver. Making it down to Olmric’s Hut would be a tough one going through multiple lieutenant fights, but at least right now I don’t have any treachery. Shika’s Tree wold be less resistance by the OL, but they would have to get Kerak’s Map (travel secret trails), and they were very low on cash. I also said, now may be a good time to attack the lieutenants because once the campaign reaches silver, the minions and the lieutenants will be significantly stronger. The had the Staff of the Wild as well as the Boat, so they have many potential options. They ended up choosing to go to Blackwing Swamp #27 Monastery: We have done this level before, it is imo, one of the easiest ones we have done so far, it is pretty much free CT for the heroes. I chose option 1 as the OL with 5 skeletons, 2 beastman, 1 master sorcerer. The first turn Runewitch Astarra ran and got the Glyph (+3) and the gold pile. Everyone else takes up defensive position, to protect the villages. I try to snipe away, but do minimal damage to others. Turn 2, Landrec battles, and takes out 4 skeletons and severely wounds the Master Sorcerer. Runewitch gets the other gold pile in the middle and opens the chest, spending all her fatigue. 2 surges, blank and enhancement, get 2 fatigue potions and a Magic Bow. On my turn I somehow spawn a Kobold Swarm and take out 2 villagers, while Tahlia activates her guard to take a Kobold out to prevent a death, but I sneak in with the Master Sorcerer to take out another filthy villager. The rest of the heroes fled on their turn, and convinced the blood hungry Tahlia to just leave the level rather than kill all the rest of the monsters (Bryan just likes killing stuff, but common sense won the battle after much deliberation), leaving 3 villages alive. Heroes: +6 OL: 0
Level 2-#30 Stuck in the Middle: This just sounds awesome. To top it off, I get not 1 but 2 Master Skeletons as bosses with extra armor and wounds . I didn’t write down with what option I went with, but it was something like 3-4 skeletons, 2 razorwings, and a sorcerer. Learning my lesson from last level with Landrec, I was going to just kite with the skeletons like I have been doing the whole campaign to great success. I position the razorwings near the front, to make the heroes either kill them or get webbed. A little fuzzy on the notes but Tahlia goes to the front lines with Runewitch somewhere close to her. Grey Ker has 4 wounds left, so he hides in the back, while Landrec runs up to the front of the back, with 3 movement, he isn’t very fast. Thikning with all the pierce I have of 2 boss skellies plus the other skeletons, I could take out Tahlia, but with her 5 armor and full health, she was turning out to be a beast. So I switched mid turn, with my remaining monsters to kill off Runewitch [+2]. This would pretty much cut down on any of their forward movement, as I had placed 2 monsters to block of the corridor to get the forward glyph. She then wasted another turn going to the alchemist, but I wasn’t complaining. Landrec moves up and battles, has the choice of doing 2 damage to 3 targets with blast 2, or 3 damage to 2 targets with blast 1 after I played a dodge OL card. The razorwings die, but the all the eldritch are still alive (good my plan of putting the razorwings up front worked, they took one for the super silver eldritch team). Grey Ker at 4 wounds looked very tasty sitting in the middle. I spawn Shades (again yummy for blocking forward progress of the glyph). To my dismay, the heroes play 2 separate Protect Thyself, giving them +4 armor for the turn. If they didn’t do that I would have killed Ker and Landrec. Monsters did very minimal damage, but not enough. The following turn, the heroes only managed to kill 1 monster, because I put the boss out front to try to distract them and Ker went to pick up a gold pile (which worked again, the boss didn’t take enough wounds). Grey Ker with a curse token then got murdered [+4] by the onslaught, and there was a lot of damage put out on Tahlia to make her run away the next turn. Now I don’t have it in my notes, but Tahlia [+4] dies and Landrec [+2] dies too. Kerr sells Great Bow, they do not buy Mace of Aver or Skull Shield. I am not too sure of those last 2 kills, but it is on the tracker, but again not in my notes. They all flee the dungeon going back to Tamalir. Funny thing was, I said the name of the dungeon level was true; they were "stuck in the middle". The heroes explained not really. I then said, well did you even get through the middle? Doh, no, you owned us.
Overall, the heroes should have gained 1 for discovering the dungeon, and 6 for the first dungeon so 7 overall. OL gets 12.
At end of week 8: CONQUEST TOKENS: Heroes: 66, OL: 39/87; Total: 153

No note of feats or potions as they used a lot of them throughout the night. I am sure there are some floating around.
Start of Week 9 OL +2 for time passing (Riverwatch raised) OL buys 1 Event Treachery -15, Alric moves to Thelsvan Highway, Merric places a siege token on Dawnsmoor and Eliza moves to Dawnsmoor.
CONQUEST TOKENS: Heroes: 66, OL: 24/89; Total: 155, 45 conquest until Silver level
I want to know your thoughts, would you have made a different decision than going directly to Blackwing Swamp? Would you have stayed until all three levels were done because you needed money? I feel I would have done things a bit differently. I would have got a rumor before the end of the week, and placed it somewhere up north, then I would have did all 3 levels to get money, as there is a 2 week clock possibly before silver level. At this point I would have fled back to Tamalir and tried to take on at least 1 LT. Also looking to pick up Wind Pact on the way if that was possible. At this point, secret master training looked too hard to get.
What would be some suggestions now that I got my Treachery and looking to hurt some more heroes?
Can someone go over the rules again regarding hero and LT movement on the OL map? Can the heroes go to Dawnsmoor, attack the LT, then able to buy at Dawnsmoor (but not take a full train action)? They are allowed to attack 1 LT, then afterwards, replentish their fatigue, then have the option of attacking the 2nd LT correct?

If you had wanted to hurt them, your Eldricht would have been silver already...
Silver Sniper Skeletons with Sorcerer King is a sickely successfull sweet spot. And silver rated leaders make for a whole world of hurt.

They are. It's mentioned in the text ("razorwings taking one for the super silver eldritch team" or something) nd if you add up the costs of the OL upgrades mentioned you only come to 30 when OL startin XP/CT count indicates 55CT has been spent.

Given the Hero party makeup, I wouldn't be too concerned about SM training in copper. 3/4 heroes are already well fatigued up. It's nice if they can get it, but less critical for this party than for others. And I would aim for Shika's Tree rather than Olmrics Hut in general for this party because they already have Rapid Fire, leaving only Quick Casting as a 'special' skill (get that from Silver Legendary Dungeon). However, in order to get to Shika's Tree (and train, preferably at least twice), they have to give the Lts free rein for around 6ish weeks - consider Dawnsmoor gone, possibly a third city, and Tamalir under heavy siege by the time they come out of Shika's Tree with everything they want. But then, that is the OL's job - put pressure on the heroes and force them to make difficult (and wrong) choices in order to get what they want. I'd probably have gone straight to Dawnsmoor to lift that siege, assuming they are stocked in potions etc, and assuming the have a little cash left over for shopping afterwards. Probably. OTOH, it's not my campaign and even when you give a pretty thorough report, I don;t really have a 'feel' for it.

More treachery, the special Lt (if he is not silver-only) and save for instant gold upgrade (maybe even a second silver upgrade if you swing that way).
Quote: Can someone go over the rules again regarding hero and LT movement on the OL map? Can the heroes go to Dawnsmoor, attack the LT, then able to buy at Dawnsmoor (but not take a full train action)?
Yes. They can 'visit' after they have finished any Lt encounters they wish to fight that week.
Quote: They are allowed to attack 1 LT, then afterwards, replentish their fatigue, then have the option of attacking the 2nd LT correct?
Yes. Fatigue resets at the start of every encounter or dungeon.

i suppose i didn't really put it in the report, but it was my first thing i purchased was silver eldritch. i will include it in the report and future reports, my bad.
@corbon: i know what i want to do i may have worded my question wrong, what would be some things you would recommend for the heroes to do. i agree that secret master training is not as important at this point now.
