Salutations, gentlefolk !
Discovered Harald Gruber's _TransSib_ computer adaptation of the
TransAmerica game system a while back, and decided that what the
world needed was a TransPennsylvania playing map for this game
system, so I'm in the middle of drawing up one.
The grid is 15 lines N-S x 27 E-W (The sharp-eyed amongst you may
note that the lines will correspond to the 'index grid' of the
official "Tourism & Transportation Map", and visitors to
VisitPa.com or Pa.Gov may get a copy mailed or downloaded.)
There'll be 36 cities, in 6 colors, to wit:
Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Wilmington, Trenton, Reading,
Lancaster
New York City, Poughkeepsie, Stroudsburg, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre,
Binghampton
Harrisburg, Pottsville, Hazleton, Baltimore, Gettysburg (York and
Carlisle are bigger, but Gettysburg is a bit farther from
Harrisburg, besides the historical importance), Lehigh Valley
(Allentown, Bethlehem & Easton - all within one 'rail' - any
better suggestion.)
Williamsport, Elmira, Hagerstown, State College, Altoona,
Cumberland
Youngstown, Erie, Oil City, Jamestown, Johnstown, Punxsutawney
(DuBois is bigger, but hasn't starred in a movie yet)
Pittsburgh, Wheeling, Aliquippa, Greenburg, Morgantown, Washington
Like many other 'Trans' system maps, a lot of cities along the
edges, but this one'll have a lot of 'rough terrain' in the
middle.
Finally, with the way the mountains and rivers run in
Pennsylvania, map fits geography better if the 'grid lines
parallel to map edge' run North-South instead of East-West.
Anybody know how to hack the TransMap program to do this ?

Go for it. Once the map is ready and in PDF format, I'll try to print it out and see what I think of it. My late father was in the US Army and was stationed at Carlisle Barracks, PA from 1975 to 1977 (when he retired), and I really enjoy traveling in southern PA (especially Lancaster county).
I still have "TransAmerica", but wish the map were larger, with more cities. But I gave away "TransEuropa" to Goodwill, because the map looked like a kid had drawn it with crayons.

Salutations, again !
Unfortunately Real Life has been keeping me busy, haven't had chance to finish work on this. Draft map has cities, but only partial terrain. Have found nice colored-relief map for background, though.
Still need help 'revolving' the grid 90 degrees.
Wondering if there's some way of 'fixing' the computer's 'card draw' - would like to ensure, in games with 3 players or more, that Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are among the cities 'picked' ?
If anyone wants to lend a hand, drop me a message.
