Mike, This was really well done. You kept it very entertaining, with a lot of wit, most of it charmingly self-deprecating. Great work--and I know that a lot must have gone into it.

Regards,
Britt.

Thanks very much Britt, glad you enjoyed it. As soon as that replay was done, I knew I wanted to write it up. Just took awhile to get it all done. Kind of like the old AH General replays where you could read the thoughts (and whirring brain noises) behind the moves, I wanted to concentrate on the gamer's interactions as much as the moves.

Well, Mike, I've read a ton of Series Replays from the General and they were nowhere nearly as good as yours--those from the General were too often so dry and the "neutral commentator" often would come across as well, a pompous pain in the neck.

I really like your replay website--I've visited it many times before the new BAC post. Your GCACW playing hints are really great. I find GCACW such an immersive experience, that far too often I forget to play intelligently and keep my eye on the ball: Victory Points Through Losses, Especially Retreat Losses.

OK, agree, some General replays were a little parched but some were not and I always hoped for the thinking behind the moves. To be fair and honest here, the site is not mine. It is run by Jay Meyer who was a tremendous help programming my replay into his site. As to the GCACW system, it may have flaws as a simulation in the tactical (close-in fighting) sense but it works very well operationally and, as a game it is extremely good. Every time I play the scenarios I am struck by how well these must have been playtested. Can't think of another system as well playtested (maybe Here I Stand - Ed Beach again). Thanks again for the comments.

I second that - a great read with lots of witty and insightful comments! I especially liked the opposing comments by the players...it provided an interesting look at how 'chaotic' command can be!

Thank you guys, enjoyed writing it and I hope that it does get players into the system. Have to admit that the Board interactions were the best thing about the whole experience.
