So my wife and I ran into a situation tonight. I was one point shy of winning the game. It was my wife's roll, and she rolled me into drawing a progress card. I drew the printing press, worth one special victory point, putting me at the winning amount of victory points. But it wasn't my turn. The rules state you have to play those cards as soon as you draw them. Does that mean that I won the game, even though it was her turn and not mine?

No. You have to have 13 points on YOUR turn.

Confirmed. You can only win on your own turn. I've seen it happen where the first person to 13 was not the person who won the game.

This exact same thing happened *twice* last night - to the same guy. He drew defender of catan cards not on his turn for 15 points in 2 sequential games. I almost felt bad for him.
