James, Sean, and I sat down to play the old standby for 3 players, Web of Power. I started off the game and played into Franken. James opened up France, and got blitzed by Sean. The first scoring round was dominated by monastery placement. Sean controlled Bayern and France, while I had smaller wins in Franken and Burgundy, while James took Italy, Lothringen, and Burgundy.

The second scoring round saw Sean shore up his leads in France as well as take Spain. I concentrated on adivsors setting up an alliance chain of Italy, Burgundy, Spain, and France. I was close to snapping up England as well (as well as a sure win), but I pointed out to James that his locking up of the final advisor placement in England would do him no good. The result was Sean locked up the final spot, which meant that I was shut out of the alliances there.

The final scores were Sean 77, Me 76, and James 75. This was a hotly contested game, primarily because everyone was locking the next player out of places. There were 4 times during the game where Sean took the exact play I planned on my turn. That alone cost me control of France as well as Italy.

Still all enjoyed the game, and James was very happy with the game, since this was his first time playing.
