We played this scenario for the first time and are confused about the phrasing in the Hero's Survival Guide.

The rest of this post is Spoiler'd just in case:

Right Now
Set aside a number of Knowledge Roll tokens
(triangular) equal to the number of players. Set
aside an equal number of Sanity Roll tokens
(triangular), a Ghost token (light green), and a
Corpse token (crimson).

How to Summon the Ghost
There’s a race between you and the traitor to
summon the Ghost.

Each hero can attempt a Knowledge roll or Sanity
roll of 5+ to conduct a séance. An explorer can
attempt either one of these rolls during his or
her turn, but only while that character is in the
Pentagram Chamber.

Each time one of these rolls succeeds, put
a Knowledge Roll or Sanity Roll token (as
appropriate) in the room where the haunt was
revealed. When the heroes have a number of those
tokens equal to half the number of players (round
down), they’ve completed the séance.


Our Question:

What does it mean by "When the heroes have a number of those tokens"? Have where? In the Room? In the Supply next to the board?

Example: 6 Player Game.
We pull out 6 Knowledge Roll and 6 Sanity Roll Tokens from the box.
After a successful roll, we put 1 of the appropriate tokens into the room where the Haunt was Revealed.

Do we need:
1. Any 3 Tokens into that room
2. 3 Sanity AND 3 Knowledge tokens into that room
3. Enough tokens into the room such that only 3 tokens remain off the board (i.e. "set aside")

Options 1 and 2 don't make sense because why would the Rules tell us to set aside a # of each token equal to the # of players if we only need half that to summon the spirit? We played with option #3 using this logic, and the Traitor summoned the spirit after 3 turns when we had only managed to perform 7 successful trait rolls (9 needed) by that time. And this was with 3 heroes already in the basement next to the Pentagram Chamber when the Haunt was revealed.

In a six player game, you only need 3 successes (half the number of players). These are put on the board when a successful Knowledge or Sanity roll is made. This allows the heroes to pick their stronger stats. The Heroes need 3 successes, the traitor needs 2 successes, but he needs one of each.
