I played this game last weekend an we had a little discussion about the magnet.

Is it allowed to pull a car (on the opposite side of a stream) into the water with the magnet?

No it was never my intention to allow a Kart to be pulled back to a side of the stream that it had already left. This would mean that it would be able to pick up a flag without finishing a full lap.
Sorry that this is not clear in the rules.
Hope you had fun playing the game
John

Too bad.
By the way, I had no intention of pulling the cart back on land, my intention was to pull my opponents cart into the water, just like pushing a cart in to the water. devil

Oh and what flags are you talking about, I dind't find any flags in the box or on the board and also no mention of flags in the rules.

And yes we had fun playing the game, it was a game with two of my kids (8 and 6).
Only for kids this game is a bit too long so we played only 3 rounds instead of 5.

I mean the 'Checkered Flag Counters' that you collect to mark how many laps you've done. You should have 48 in the box.

Nice, trying to pull your 6 year old into the stream with a magnet, why didn't I think of that

Aha, Ok thanks for clearing that up.

Hey, when both are ganging up on daddy, daddy is allowed to fight back.

Sorry to jump on this topic but I had a question on the magnet as well. I know the rules say you can pull a enemy back or a ally forward, but it sounded more as a helpful sugestion than a seriously rule. I ask because we encounter a person wanting to pull an enemy forward out of the pit stop to prevent him from buying on his next turn. My question is this allowed or not?

I know it is not allowed to place traps in the pitstops but I don't know if it is allowed to pull a car out of the pitstop.

Because I am a dastardly devil I would say it is allowed but lets see what John Yianni has to say about this.

Another question regarding the magnet comes to mind:
Is it allowed to use the magnet to pull an enemy car over another trap like the acid trap or the time bomb and thereby setting off the other trap?

Yes it was more of a helpful suggestion than a rule and as long as you don't place a trap inside a pit stop all other dastardly deeds are encouraged.

Yes as long as you don't pull a Kart through walls, another Karts or over a bridge in the wrong direction you may decide which route to pull a Kart back or forward, and if that route is over traps then all the better.
Note: You may only pull a Kart if you are able to plot a route 10 spaces or less so the Kart finishes on the Magnet trap. So going through water is not permitted as the Kart will not end up on the Magnet trap.
So what happens if you pull the Kart over a Spring? Well the Kart gets sprung back to the space where it started and the Spring trap is taken away. Then the Kart is again pulled by the Magnet until it reaches the Magnet trap.

I like the way you guys think, very dastardly, exactly the way Junkyard Races is meant to be played.

John

Quick questions that came up about the magnet.

Can you still use the magnet on yourself if you have the anti magnetic device installed?

What happens if you use the magnet on yourself by placing it next to you but your kart cant legally move where the magnet is in 1 move? This might happen if you are on one of the parallell bridges.

Who or what decides the facing of the kart after it being pulled by the magnet?

No If you have anti magnetic device installed you will not be able to use a Magnet on yourself.

A Magnet cannot pull a kart to anyplace that is not legal, and that goes for your own kart.

The owner of the kart decides which way to face after being pulled by a Magnet.

Cheers
John
