As some of you know, we've had the following Boardgame Collector microbadges in our system for awhile, but there's not been a process to award them (and there has been great debate about the best way to do so):
- 100 boardgames in collection (Copper)
- 250 boardgames in collection (Silver)
- 500 boardgames in collection (Gold)
To receive these microbadges, you must:
1. Enter your collection on BGG. 2. Post in this thread what highest level of award you are entitled to (everyone who receives the gold microbadge also receives the copper and silver).
Note that only currently owned games count for this award, but it will be considered a high-water mark and you will not lose the microbadges if you later sell off part of your collection and mark the games as previously owned. We also will not consider any collection you may have owned in the past, so please don't ask; this will be awarded from this point going forward.
These microbadges are not automatically awarded. We do not want people to claim they have boardgames in their collection that they do not, because that pollutes the public stats in the database. We believe that people are generally honest about this and will not artificially inflate their collection and then ask for recognition of that in a public forum. However, if we see a pattern of abuse in this regard, be aware that we may decide to purge this award from the system and everyone who owns it.
That said, we wanted to open up this opportunity to the community and trust you will reward our faith in you. We hope you enjoy these microbadges!
Note: Expansions also count, but these are included in the boardgame total count in your profile.
Edit: Note that, to kick start this process, we've bulk-awarded the badges for everyone eligible to date. If your collection grows in the future above the next threshold, you'll need to come back to this thread to let us know.

Re: Game Collector Microbadges
Do expansions count? If so, I own 117 games. If not, I own 99 games. Boo.
So I guess I qualify for a copper microbadge?

I will take the risk that I may be purged from the system in the future due to owning this badge.

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.
You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

I believe I should get a silver badge.

We are going to envy their good fortune and pity their lack of ready spending money.
