I got Junkyard Races yesterday. Let me tell you, it’s a beautiful looking game. The graphics are spot-on appropriate for the game, they are crisp, colorful and scream for you to play the game. The components are great! The little plastic cars look cool, the die cut counters are just thick enough and punched out nicely, the game board is nice and thick, and best of all, the component tray in the bottom of the box holds everything neatly in it’s own spot.

I haven’t played the game, but if it’s half as fun as its production value it should be a blast. Unfortunately, there is one glaring problem (pun intended)…the high gloss shine of all, the components, but primarily the game board.

Maybe it’s the fact that the light in my game room is a florescent light, but the glare on the board makes it impossible to see the whole board from any given seat. You have to get up, and shift around to see different parts of the board…of course, the glare just moves to other parts.

I’m not sure why they went with this super gloss look? But matte finish game boards are much easier to look at.

Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just my lights?

I’m debating spraying the board with art-protecting matte finish, but I’m afraid of ruing the board, making it tacky, or worse yet making it stick together when I fold it. Any advice?

Hi , i have the game and don't have this problem at all, it may just be those lights you have. I play under regular incandescent lighting.
