Here's my idea for a racing variant. A 3-1/2 year old I know loves it -- heck, I kinda like it, too, though it is totally random.
Place six cows in one ship, one each in front of the lines 1-6. One player is team 1-3, the other is team 4-6. Players take turns rolling their five dice. Each rolled number moves a cow forward one space on that line. First team to get all three of their cows into the other ship wins.
