Kaisers Pirates is fun. multiplayer or solo and easy once you get it. The rulebook makes a very simple thing seem hard.

Joel Toppen and I both have been making tutorials for the game. Just remember these few things

1) The game is German ships(yours) vs British (opponents) and British vs German (vice versa)

2) Every action card can be used as an attack card, but warships have a built in attack value, british do not. SO attack values on "interception!" is only used for british ships. German ships use their attack dice listed on the card

3) German raiders and warships cannot be attacked until they are revealed through cards. Once revealed they are fair game!

Thats the hardest part!
The rest is just how to apply the events on the cards.

I'm just going from memory here, but I believe German Warships may be attacked without having to be revealed first.

This isn't the first time I've seen complaints about the rulebook and after my first play through last night, I just don't find them justified. I found the rules very straight forward and easy to assimilate.

And, yes, German Warships do not need to be identified before being attacked. That only appiles to Raiders.

4) You have to play a card from your hand as an Intercept to do any attack.

Beginners (and low experience players) often lay down an Assist (green) card and say 'I'll have this German ship attack that merchant ship.' You need to play an additional card to actually perform the Intercept.

I am working with Rich, the vassal designer to help make a player mat that will help new players. Here is a sample of what I have so far (I know there is a small mistake in the top hidden row

this player mat you are designing seems to be quite helpful. Merchant ships area is missing.

I think a couple of attack markers would be very useful in the game too.. possible some red yellow markers?
