Our 2 1/2 year old son absolutely loves Go Away Monster! He started on Goodnight Moon (which he doesn't seem to like anymore) and also has the game Hissss which keeps his attention for about 2 1/2 minutes.
Any recommendations for other simple & fun games appropriate for his age?

Yes, I really am that awesome.

Monkey Madness (the ravensburger one, there is another game with the same name) is basically a competitive version of Go Away Monster. It was a big hit with my daughters at that age.
2+1/2 might be old enough for Viva Topo! and the (sadly out of print) Gulo Gulo also.

A couple of ones that I've picked up for our son that's about the same age are Fish Eat Fish and Feed the Kitty.
Of course we're not playing using the cards yet in Fish Eat Fish but he likes jumping them and making them into stacks. Feed the Kitty is a quick enough little dice game that it doesn't lose him like Hiss does.
Also, I have a copy of Pengoloo and Der schwarze Pirat for when he gets a little bit older. We'll see how those go.

Animal on Animal was the first thing I thought of. I'm getting my 3 year old daughter a copy in her Easter Basket

Haba has some other games that might work out like the racing games Monza or Giro Galoppo if your kid likes race cars or horses respectively. Good luck in your search!

Yep that was 12 Power Grid maps back to back over two days. Worth doing, but possibly not in such a concentrated burst.
Ooh yes, now a little to the left - my nose is itchy. No, no the other left! Now what colour is 12 supporter badge going to be I wonder?

Tummy Ache (assuming it is still in print).

Tummy Ache is still in print!
We went with that one and it was a big hit. Very similar to Go Away Monster, it was picked up very easily and he has a lot of fun making new plates of food and screaming when he gets a tummy ache card. Sometimes we spice things up by making plates of nothing but icky buggy food!
Thanks for the recommendation!

Misterioso wrote: ...Thanks for the recommendation! My pleasure. Both Daughter the Elder and Daughter the Younger enjoyed it when they were of that age. And we didn't mind playing it with them either (which is not necessarily always the case with children's games!).

My 4 year old granddaughter loves RattleSnake, Gulo Gulo, Go Away Monster!, and Memory. I recently introduced her to Sherlock, which went over well, and Walter Wick Can You See What I See?, which fell flat for both of us and won't be played again.
