Hello fellow participants in and of the cosmos! Yes, I know this may seem sad, and perhaps I am gilded with a touch of melancholy at the prospect, but I am by myself and I want to play Cosmic Wimpout! In fact, seeing that I am by myself, I'll take advantage of the "house rules" spirit of the game and change its name to Cosmic Wipeout, which I like much better!

So, I just did an internet search for solitaire rules, and I expected a plethora of variations to pop up, but this didn't happen. I'd like to make my own rules for solo play someday, but I'll have to play a lot more and familiarize myself with the math of the game before undertaking that kind of project. Can anyone post some in the meantime? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Well, that was fast! I just made my own! Let's call it "Full Circle" or "Pi in the Sky". Doubtless, these same rules have been arrived at by many other people in the past. Please note that for my variation, the game is called Cosmic Wipeout. I see that I used this name in the subject heading for this thread. The truth is, I've been calling it that instinctively since I was introduced to the game. No matter how many times my friends try to correct me, or how I try to get used to the "real" name, it just doesn't stick.

You get three "chances". You need 35 points or better to finish a turn. That is, You can stop your current turn and take another one every time you achieve 35 points. Of course, you can try for more, and you may have to, depending on what comes up. Every time you Wipeout, you lose a chance, along with whatever points you were working on for that turn, but you get to keep your running total for the game thus-far. After your third wipeout, you are riding the non-ending, non-repeating tail of Pi, and you are on your own. One more Wipeout and the game is done. If you reach 360 points, then you have come full circle, or your pie in the sky ideas have been realized. What do you think?

***

I just won a game after using two chances, and I also got totally skunked once!

Here are some titles I've thought up:

Winner without using a chance: Supreme Being
Winner using one chance: Paradigm Shifter
Winner using two chances: Archetype
Winner using three chances: Social Construction Worker
