This is a long overdue GotW! Congratulations!

Do you think Italian prime minister was inspired by your nickname when he was coming up with a fancy name for the receptions he organized? If so, why do you think he was inspired? :-)

On more serious side, which conflicts, that you have interest in, do you find underrepresented in the wargaming?

Congratulations from your VideoGameGeek of the Week counterpart!

- Hypothetically speaking, is there a boardgame that you could see making a good videogame?
- Would you play it?

OK, a few diverse questions for you:

You seem to keep your real-life location a secret (beyond the fact that you live in the US). Are you willing to give any more specific idea, e.g. what state, or what size town, or what latitude (e.g. does it snow often where you live?)

If you won a free vacation to any city in the world, where would you go and why?

Do you speak any languages besides English?

What are some stories you like by Jorge Luis Borges?

Do you play Go online or in person more? Where?

Have you really not played Combat Commander, Conflict of Heroes, or Squad Leader...? Or they're just not showing up in your collection? Or are you less interested in that kind of small-scale tactical wargame?

You seem to have voluntarily acquired no microbadges. If an evil genie forced you to choose a microbadge, which one might you take?

Why does Supremacy deserve a rating of only 2.5? Did it always end in nuclear war and everyone losing when you played, like it did for us?

Sounds like a great M-i-L! You're lucky.

You like Diplomacy. Imagine you are playing in a game with the following people (all of whom miraculously speak 21st century English):

Kaiser Wilhelm II
Bonaparte
Genghis Khan
Suleiman the Magnificent
Julius Caesar
Paris Hilton

Without regard to country assignments, which two of those would you choose to make an alliance with, and why? Which one would you fear a backstab from the most? Which of those six would you be most nervous about backstabbing for fear of his/her vengeance?

Only 36 ratings, all of which are about 3 years old or older.

I take from that, that you no longer rate games? Or has it been that long ago since you've played a new game that you could rate?

My favorite Animal Crackers quote.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west, and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Nice to have a fan as GOW. Congrats.

Well, well, well, one of my favorite Geeks finally gets his due. Congrats!

It's cool to see that you play guitar, as I do as well. I own a Fender American Standard Telecaster, and it's a lot of fun. I'd like to pick up a Les Paul or a Rick at some point, but it always comes down to whether I want to spend my hobby dollars on guitars or games, and recently, games have been winning!

Question - do you prefer to play acoustic or electric guitar? What is your favorite guitar?

Funny. There's clearly some subcurrent that drives wargamers to play guitar. I have a cheap Squier Strat, but sometimes my daughter lets me play her Les Paul, and I also have to decide between a better guitar and upcoming games.
So answer the man's questions, Hunga!

No, no, you're right ... but you've got the name wrong.

They're the Beer Gods—the ones who decide how much money you get when you enter the pub to gamble at the end of your turn in M.U.L.E.

If you do a special dance, they favor you. And they've imbued the 2 computer AI (we almost always play 2-player, for lack of simultaneous opponent availability) with sentience, so that they can change strategies over the years (they have) and have developed their own personalities, even across computers and emulators (they have). And no, we haven't changed our strategies over the years.†
†I'd bring in my gaming buddy, who is a member of BGG, to confirm this, but I don't know his username, mostly because he doesn't know it offhand either (I asked him yesterday, but because he autologs in he couldn't remember).

And they watch over all other games now, creating unrandom randomness, usually to screw mortals over, much as they gave the computer AI $251 at the gambling table once, when we were trying to introduce a new player to the game, who subsequently quit.

Believe me, it's the Beer Gods. They rule our lives, as 4 of the 5 members of my gaming group (my wife has played M.U.L.E., but not as long as the rest of us) can affirm.

Congrats!!! Like many others, I figured Hunga had already been Geek of the Week.

I read threads JUST to see if Hunga or GrogNADS responds. I love the wit brought to the sometimes way-too-serious threads.

I'll toss in a few questions:

1) What type of cigar do you smoke?
2) What is your favorite war/theater to game?
3) What are some of your favorite wargames, and why?

Congrats, Hungadunga!

As your RPGG counterpart I'd like to ask you a couple of questions:

d10-1 Do you play any role-playing games?

d10-2 Do you ever role-play while playing boardgames?

d10-3 Can you tell us three ways that gaming has enriched your life?

d10-4 Did they give you a great big rubber cheque when they told you that you were GotW? Don't try to cash that... shake

Have a great week, dude!
