I have recently tried out a version of Chicane with trump. The change also makes scoring simpler.
Rules are on the Wiki and comments are welcome.

I know this thread is kinda old, but I just played Chicane with the old rules the last couple days with 6 other people (not at once of course) and we all really enjoyed the game. This newer version, which I realize is not that new at all, seems to radically change the game. It minimizes the important of bidding, since both trump and top/bottom are determined regardless of the numerical bids. This does not make it necessarily a worse game, but it does make it a different game. Maybe this should be a variant on the previous rule set? This would allow both games to exist in the database since both games seems to be enjoyable, though I have yet to play the new rules.
Another option would be to have a Chicane family of games defined by the fact that the whether the top/bottom suit is the one that matters is determined in game, and have multiple trick taking games, with trump/no trump varieties. It is your game and your design, so your call, but many people seem to find the old rules enjoyable, so it seems as if they should still be available, maybe under a different name.

I am glad you are having fun with the Decktet.
Although some people modestly enjoyed the old version, nobody was terribly enthusiastic about it. Someone who rates it a 6 commented, "Not sure about the long term playability. It seems like most of the game is in the bid, with the play being somewhat academic." The goal of the redesign was to have bidding and card play which both mattered. Bidding is still important in the new version, especially in the 4-player version where it determines partnerships.
Of course, you are welcome to play the original version if you enjoy it. I don't think there need to be separate BGG entries, but I like your suggestion that Chicane is a family of games. (Nate Straight has made a similar suggestion.) So I've added the original rules back to the entry at the Decktet Wiki, under the heading "Old School Chicane".

Thanks for responding. Sorry if I came across negative. I was mostly jut concerned that if I lost my book and forgot the rules and one of the people asked to play again I wouldn't remember exactly how to play haha.
I reread the new rules, and with the floating partners idea it does sound like a lot of fun, hopefully I will be able to play it before too long.
