My first game of this EPGS day was a 'filler' card game that I hadn't played in some time. It was also a reminder to me that I may have to update my notation on who I play against.

Initial turn order: Matt, Eric, Steve S, Carl, me.

'Eric' is a friend who'll be leaving for the midwest before too long. He'll be missed by the EPGS regulars. And 'Steve S' is, in fact, a different Steve S from the one I've played against at games like 7 Wonders and Sid Meier's Civ. I'd go back to my earlier Session Reports if I wasn't so lazy about doing so.

As to the game: early on I took the 26 (with about 9 chips), later snagging the 27 (with a couple more chips). I would have a tough choice a few cards later when the 29 came out. That went around more than twice before I finally took it, hoping for the 28 to come and fill that gap.

Suffice to say, my reference in this report's title was NOT for the six!

(Never saw the 25 or 30, either.)

Getting saddled with the 26-27-29 combo (the 27 didn't count against me) was too much to overcome, and I DFLed. (On the day, I DFLed a lot more than I care to think.) Steve, for his part, got cards from 10 to 14 and secured a close victory over Matt.

Final scores: Steve 19, Matt 23, Eric 30, Carl 40, me 42.

Disappointing start to the day, and a harbinger of things to come. But an enjoyable game, nonetheless. The 5 of us decided to stick together for our next game ... Puerto Rico. But that's for another Session Report.
