I read reviews and had always assumed that you added the dice to get the value and then place lowest to highest after placing the highest at the top. But the example in the rules show that 1 #2 die is placed higher than 3 #1 die. I think the word value seems to cause confusion. They should have said "Take the die and place the lowest numbered die/dice at the bottom"
Anyone else have this confusion?

No. But I do know that Bears fan, especially of the Cub variety, usually have difficulty in reading and following simple instructions. So that is most likely the cause of the problem.

I've been on this site for 8 years now, and I'm far from sick of games, but I think I am, to some degree, sick of learning too many new games. I'm also tired of playing 4+ hr multiplayer games, but I'll still happily play really long games 2 player.

Brian, Indianapolis just can't get past the inferiority complex of being second largest city in the Midwest to Chicago.
Dice use in Yspahan are among those game mechanisms that aren't super easy to understand by reading rules, but everyone gets them really quickly after they've actually done it a couple of times.

Thanks. After reading the rules and looking at examples everything makes sense.

I actually live closer to Chicago (and in fact work there) than Indy anyways.
I'll have to go back and read the rules with the perspective that they can be interpreted another way. I never once had any inclination to doubt the value was the face value of the single die in a group. Along with all the examples, it seemed perfectly clear.
