House No. 10 gives as benefit a medical book when it is being cured. Can you use the book you just gained to cure another house with the same action? I am asking because as I can figure out from the rules (page 6) the sequence is:

1. Play Medicine action card and specify a location (house).
2. Recive 2 VP and benefit.
3. Remove the plague marker.
4. Cure another house if you have enough medical books.

We have always played that you could do that action. You get the benefit in step 2 and can cure in step 4.

Overtext is really cool. The best 100 GG I've ever spent. Well. I'm actually bored with overtext. Why did I give all that GG away?

This question has been asked before (maybe in a german forum, I don't remember exactly).

The then official answer was: No, you cannot use the newly gained medical book.

I wonder if it is a translation problem; it seemed pretty clear that you were allowed to use the medical knowledge as it came in a later step. Of course we all know that traslation errors are rare...:whi

I'm inclined to think you must have any medical knowledge used at the start of the action. It seems to me that the items on page 6 of the rules are just a list of items in connection with plague, there being nothing to indicate that they are a sequence to be followed.

The following section which I presume people are thinking of step 4 in the sequence referred to above, would seem to be just a statement that you can cure multiple houses if you have sufficient knowledge.

Quote:
If you have enough medical knowledge, you may use the Medicine action card to care for multiple locations. To do so you need to have medical knowledge equal to or greater than the sum of the locations' requirements. Of course, when you care for multiple locations you also receive multiple victory points and benefits.

As I read this, you play the Medicine card and state you will care for a number of locations, demonstrating that you have the required knowledge for the sum of the locations, you then collect your benefits and it is the end of your action.

I would agree that you must have the necessary medical knowledge at the beginning of the healing as you are technically healing them all at the same time.

You are going door to door...

You aren't the Red Cross...

Gained knowledge is just that...

You can use the knowledge gained from income so why not newly acquired knowledge?
