What's the youngest kid that someone has played this game with? How was the experience?

I've played it with all three of my sons - they are 9, 6, and 4. The nine- and six-year-olds did great and had a really fun time. It's a great game for kids around those ages. The four-year-old said he liked it but struggled to play well. I don't think he really understood what was going on despite our efforts to show him and explain it to him. He even dropped out about halfway through the one game he played because he was just bored.

That's been my experience - hope it's helpful.

I've played it with my 3 1/2 year old nephew. But we took out the invisible walls. He had fun just learning to roll the die, count out the moves, sliding the pawn and collecting the tokens. We played that if he lifted the pawn and caused the bearing to drop he had to go back to the beginning and start over. That was enough for him without worrying about avoiding the walls. That will come later.

I've played this game with my 7 and 5 yr old step daughters, bith completely understand the game and both have beaten me. Usually when I play I have my 2 1/2 year old sitting on my lap and I let him roll the dice and put his hand on the pawn as I move the spaces, he loves this and has great fun with it.

In my head right now I hear him saying "Games dad? Playing games?" & "My turn dad, I roll"

My son was 4 1/2 when he started playing it and has legitimately won the game before, although he usually doesn't. He could certainly play it from that age though, even if not always optimally.

It is very easy to adapt this game for very small (3-4 years old) children:

You play with the normal rules, but as soon as a wall is reached, you mark it on the playfield with something extra (matches?).

By doing so, the small ones have fun discovering the maze, learn to roll and move, and are not so frustated.

Later you can remove this house rule very easily... :-)
