I was playing a game of bang with friends and my character was El Gringo (who may take a card from the hand of the player who 'hits' him). I had one card left in my hand (Tequila) and was subject of a bang card that took my final life. According to the rules a player may discard a beer from his/her hand to revive their character even with no life remaining as a last gasp revival. Firstly, i was wondering if a tequila can be used in the same manner as a beer and secondly, if this is the case may a card be drawn with the character's ability to be used with the tequila in hand to revive the player?
It's a pretty rare circumstance so we decided to allow it just because it was crazy, but i would like some clarification on what would happen in that circumstance!
If you have any insight please share! Thanks!

Hey Jordan, here are your answers:
(1) Only Beer can be played as a way to regain a life point in the "last second" manner (to regain a life point after losing your last one). So you cannot do so with Saloon, Tequila, Whiskey, etc.
(2) You cannot draw a card from a player as El Gringo if losing a life point eliminates you. If you had had a last second Beer (and played it), then you could have drawn a card from the hand of your opponent. But since you had a Tequila, you could neither have drawn a card from your opponent, nor played it as a last second Beer.
Sorry! For answers to questions like these, I recommend looking at the BANG! and Dodge City FAQs, as well as checking out these character strategy guides. Check out The BANG! Blog for many of your BANG! needs: house rules and variations, strategy, mods, and custom expansions.
