My problem with Fire and Fury is that I don't have enough stands to play the historical battles. I have about 80 infantry stands on each side. And the rulebook doesn't provide me with a pick-up-and-play point system.

So usually I play with 2 equal armies, but the gamesystem correctly favours the defender. So this way of playing doesn't work well. Both sides are simply waiting for the opponent to advance. Usually that is what I would do, however most of my opponents are simply attacking no matter the chances!

Does somebody have a way of tackling this problem in the form of a point-system on basis of the unit lables.

Personally I was thinking of the following:
A brigade is labelled as 8/5/3. That means 3 points fresh (3), 2 worn (2) and 3 spent (1). This generated the value of this brigade as 3*3 + 2*3 + 3*1 = 18 points for this brigade.

Would this be a proper method? And what would be the value of artillery, cavalry and generals? And what if they are exceptional?

And what proportion you have to handle in attack and defend battles? In short Fire and Fury is nice to play the big historical battles according to the scenarios, but fell short in creating your own balanced battles with the units you own.

The ACW battles were rarely "balanced".

We normally make up a scenario. One side has to take a town/crossroads/bridge and give the attacking side more brigades, or an additional division.

I know that! But we all want to have balanced games with the figures we can put on the table. Why do I have to think for the designers?
