That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

The latter looks like it was designed using spare parts from the former, but apart from that they are quite different.

Pony express is a race game.

There is only one set of dice, so on your turn, you roll secretly and "declare" what you have rolled. The better your roll, the more spaces you can move.

However, you can bluff in order to go onto a good space for your cowboy, but if another player calls you a liar, you may have to prove you were right or get punished.

There's a dexterity element to PE as well, as well as a bit of silliness.

You can "shoot" the Indians by flicking a dice at them. And the winner is determined at the end of the game with a "shootout" between two dice-flicking players.

So ....

If you like silly and fun games, you'll enjoy Pony Express !

Absolutely. The artwork and theme are similar, but the games share no mechanics.

Pony express is a hilarious bluffing game with lots of light-hearted backstabbing, dueling, lying and cheating. I highly recommend it to anyone.

i own both and i will say that they are VERY different from each other

the mechanics are totally different and the only similarities are components, wild west theme and box size. hahaha

but though i must say i prefer Dice Town alot more as anyone can really get into the game. Pony Express will fall flat for those who are unable to lie or unwilling to take the risk of lying for great gains.

oh, and Pony Express has dice flicking. awesome fun and laughter for everyone around the table. but requires movement of the players here and there ( to position themselves for a shot ). so be prepared to get off the chair and to enforce no drinks on the table

I own both aswell and they are great
I probably like Pony Express a little more, because of the action/dexterity part whistle but I have to admit that this game might not be for everyone.
