Hi,
I've just purchased this game and was wondering how much time I need to set aside to play it to completion. I can't find the expected playing time anywhere - can anyone advise on how long an average game will take?

Any interest in stumbling through it on with me on VASSAL PBEM? Then playing time won't matter so much!

I played it three times in different sessions, and always stopped a few turns before the assault begins.
I estimate around 6-8 hours providing you know the rules.
And by the way I always had a good time playing it, even I didn't finish the battle.

We played it yesterday and it took us around 10 hours to complete the game. That time included a brief pause for cooking and eating the dinner and the time it took to explain the rules to me at the beginning.
I guess an average game could last 9 hours. The game is divided in two consecutive parts: the first one is the 'siege' and the second one is the 'coup de main'. I estimate each one could last 4 hours and a half, more or less.
I think you could play the game in two 4 1/2 h. gaming sessions, playing the first part one day and the second part the next day. Or you could play the entire game in one big session, as we did.
The game is very enjoyable, we had a great time playing it.

Are there no scenarios except for the campaign game? There's no way I would be able to play this except for solo. It's the only one in the series I don't have, but realistically silly to purchase a game I will never play.

There are two scenarios besides the campaign game.
1. Historical Assault Scenario
Covers Turns 1-9 on the Coup de Main turn track. Cards which apply only to siege turns plus a few others are removed.
2. "Siege-Only" Scenario
Covers Turns 1-16 on the Seige turn track. No declaring Coup de Main.
You can download the Pensacola playbook from GMT's site to get more details on these scenarios.
