This was one of my groups first times playing with the Rebel vs. Imperium expansion. We played with three players with takeovers possible.
I began the game with galactic developers as my home world a 2-cost 1-vp card that lets you draw a card every develop phase and consume 1 good for 1 vp. I started with 4 cards of course, including interstellar bank, a 2-cost 1-vp development that gives 1 card at the start of every develop phase. I decided to lead with this to give me a good hold on the development phase. My opponents settled which I did not do.
Playing the bank cost me 1 card, but I also drew a card from tableau benefits and started turn 2 with 3 cards in my hand. Wouldn't you just know it, the card I drew was Public Works, a 1 cost, 1 vp development that lets you draw 1 card every time you play a development, and also has a consume power. I got 2 cards for playing that 1 giving me 4. And one of those 4 was of course:
I was able to play it the next turn by virtue of my tableau benefits, and at that point I was a developing machine. Everytime I played develop, I would draw 2 cards before developing, 1 card after, and play every development at a minus 3 cost. I only had 1 card that turn but developed anyway, banking on the fact that I could draw one and it worked.
The game ended after 11 turns when my tableau hit 12, after I had developed every time. I never even participated in the settle, consume, or produce phases. I ended up with 6, 6-cost developments including near the end, which went very well with my strategy.
I didn't bother posting what my opponents did because it was fairly typical and I had them by 20 or so points at the end. In any game involving random chance, if you play enough, you will come across a game like this where all the cards you need go right into your hand. After my initial decision to go for the development strategy, I didn't make too many tough decisions aside from deciding which 6-cost development in my hand would net the most points for me. If all games were like this it wouldn't be much fun, but with how rare it is, playing this game was pretty amusing. My friends and I all laughed at the idea of a species never leaving their home planet, yet dominating the galaxy with their vast array of technology.

Quote: An interesting game developed. I see what you did there.
I'd argue the 'interesting' part though. Getting the perfect cards at the perfect time and calling 1 phase on autopilot sort of negates the interesting decision points that I love race for. Still, I have to admit it's pretty fun to see happen from time to time.
