.
(sorry if it has already been posted, I searched the forum and couldn't find it discussed)

I just wanted to share a link to a game I enjoyed playing with friends ages ago.

It was called Advanced Civilization by Avalon Hill.

This was before my boardgaming days, and I didn't realize that the PC game had a boardgame counterpart.

It was a blast to play!

We played 'hot-seat' with several chairs gathered around the PC monitor.

The computer did all the calculations, all the scoring, and also provided AI players. (which helped speed up the gameplay)

The calamities are even enhanced by CGI and provided for some deliciously fun moments!

The PC game can be downloaded for free here:

Hope someone else enjoys this piece of nostalgia!

Thanks for the link, I will certainly give it a try.

You may want to advertise it in the Advanced Civilization forum

Oops, I just realized this.

Thanks for the heads-up, Romain.

No wonder I couldn't find it discussed over here.

It's discussed over there!

Oh well, I was just trying to share.

Cheers!

Indeed! Thanks. I used to own this one - on 3.25" discs (or was it carved on stone tablets? - I can't remember...)

A good implementation of an all-time classic board game.

There was also a PC version of the other Francis Tresham classic, 1830. Perhaps available from the same site?

Mine came in a CD and I still have its desert-sand colored cardboard casing. (which looks like stone tablets)

I haven't played 1830 but the site has that too:

Holy nostalgia! Games that look like that, hold a certain charm for me since it's reminiscent of simpler days & fun times.
