Is it possible to fit everything from the base Dixit game & Dixit 2 into the Dixit 2 box? I realise there is a scoring track included in the box of Dixit but I would be happy to cut this up so that it fits into Dixit 2 if all the cards & extra bits would fit in there as well.

No. The Dixit 2 box is small - it's basically just a tuckbox containing a set of 80-odd cards. You can put the Dixit 2 cards in the Dixit box, but only if you turn the insert / score track upside down.
The good news is that Dixit Odyssey (released in DE/FR, soon in UK) comes in a box the same size as Dixit and includes a lovely insert to hold all 250-odd cards from all 3 games.

Odyssey is both a standalone game and an expansion.
It's a complete game that has scoring / voting components for up to 12 people. The cards are compatible with Dixit & Dixit 2.
