In response to the issues raised after releasing the first version of the living rules, the following changes have been made (all endorsed by the designer, Phil Fry):

1) "One Allied sortie per activation" has been re-worded to include Allied ports in the West Indies.

2) Hurricanes destroy ships "In Ordinary".

3) Raids no longer eliminate the repair capability of a port.

The 2nd version of the living rules should be posted soon.

There goes the strategy of raiding Jamaica to effectively deny the West Indies to the British. The Allies will have to earn their WI points now.

just out of curiosity and not trying to be flippant, do the new updated rules address what has been the large complaint about this game: that it takes too long and that the action, while good, is buried in hours of unexcitement (my summary of other's reviews).

I picked this one up but have yet to play and some of the latest comments are disheartening.

Thanks!

I doubt it; but -

I personally found the game very enjoyable. Yes, it's long, but I found the cat and mouse game interesting - not boring. I think if you like the subject matter, and the type of game, you will like it - if not, nothing short of radical changes will "fix" it for you.

The updated living rules, absolutely not. The new short scenario that's going to be published in C3i, absolutely yes!

I'm sorry, but what is C3i?

It's a hard copy magazine published by GMT Games. The 1805 variant and scenario will probably be in issue # 26.

I've noticed that there is still (at least) one more error in the latest rules. "whether or not he can still use a port’s repair capability," should be removed from 22.2.
