Hi,

I'm interested in knowing how this game works with 3 players with the new areas of influence introduced by the expansion. Do you think it is ok? Does it improve greatly over the basic 3-player game?

Or would you perhaps say that it's ok to play with this 3-player variant, but only if you add one or two more elements form the expansion.

I'm asking because I own only the base game, but the variant is easily introduced without the overlay...

Thanks,
Pedro.

The modules are meant to be playable without the dependency of the other modules. If it is imperative to play with other modules, it tells you in the rules. I don't recall if ACoK has any that are interdependent but ASoS lists those out.

I haven't played 3-player so can't comment. But the 3-player variant in the expansion is meant to make the tracks more in line with just 3 instead of trying to play on the board with 5.

Brian,

Thanks for you reply. I am aware that the different modules are not interdependent, what I wanted to know is whether players with experience in 3-player games, think that it's ok to play just with the minor adjustment in the tracks of influence, or whether it still sucks to play only 3 players unless maybe you'd add one or two more modules....
