Troops,

When you're a Canadian publisher, setting up a Kickstarter project is proving to be quite a challenge. There are forms to fill, people to call, things to prove, papers to sign...

We should be able to (finally) go live with our Kickstarter campaign next week or so. This will give you all an opportunity to pre-order the game and some (or all) of its expansions at a great price (and have access to some neat exclusives, of course). There's a lot of cool stuff on that project, and I can't wait to launch it.

In the meantime, I shall present the various D-Day Dice expansions that we are working on in a series of posts. These expansions are in various stages of completion and are being playtested and tweaked as we speak. The rulebook will also be available online very soon.

All this will give you a very good idea where the game is headed, and should convince you that the upcoming version of D-Day Dice is much, much more than its Print-and-Play predecessor.

In a few hours, I'll write a post about our first planned expansion: D-Day Dice: Atlantikwall.

Until then, carry on.

E

Don't worry about it.. It will rock! Unless they have ridiculous shipping costs for international backers..

That's good timing because I plan to have a review up of the PnP version by next Tuesday to hopefully drum up support for the full game.

I really like what you have created here.

Hi everyone - I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to new things like Kickstarter so I am a little confused.

I see that Valley Games have picked up D-Day Dice (yay to them). Is this project separate to the Kickstarter Campaign or are the two tied together?

Just curious as I am likely to mention some of this stuff in my review so people know how to get access to the game.

For the record this will be the first time I've pre-ordered something through Kickstarter (the wife is wrapped).

Hey Neil!

This is how it works: Valley has picked up DDD, which should come out at the end of the year. The Kickstarter project is to raise enough money for a bunch of DDD expansions, that could be printed at the same time. So Kickstarter will work as a pre-order for the base game (at a great price), and, for those willing to spend a little more, for the expansions (for a fraction of the price). This means Kickstarter supporters will have access to the expansions months (and even a year in some cases) before everybody else.

Kickstarter will include exclusive cards and exclusive DDD dice pouches, too. Big supporters will receive signed cards and can even have their name on one of the "Servicemen" cards (which will be included in the D-Day Dice: Way to Hell expansion).

It'll be a big, beautiful and ambitious project, with a lot of possibilities for supporters.

I'm soooooo psyched to launch it! The page is all ready and it's really frustrating to wait. But it should be up next week, so I can't complain too much.

Cool Cheers for that.

Just played my 1st game. Got my but handed to me...too many Specialists and not enough soldiers.

Lesson 1 - Build up soldier count before rushing forth.

Neil, you might be interested in this:

D-Day Dice Strategy Guide

It was written for the old PnP version of DDD (when the Minesweeper was called the "Engineer", the Captain was called the "Officer" and the Leadership RWB was called "Inspiration"), so some chapters might be dated, but there's a detailed section on dice rolling that you can find useful.

Just downloaded it and you've helped answer a question of 2 that I have.

I'll post the question in the PnP Rule pages to avoid confusing anyone. Please look out for it!

*bites nails in anticipation*

I've never been this excited for a Kickstarter to launch before. It's kind of weird!

I hate to bring this back up because I am sure something stupid and frustrating has happened to delay this so please don't punch me for asking... but, any update on when the Kickstarter page will be up for us supporters just inching to transfer funds to you for this project?

The only update I have is that the papers are being filled and approved somewhere in the USA, and that as soon as Amazon receives the papers, Thunderbirds are go. We are already past the regular delays, so it shouldn't be too long. Or so I'm told.

Actually, it is kinda funny that a military based game is being held up due to red-tape...

For those interested, we are getting very close to the launch of the Kickstarter campaign. The big and annoying red tape hurdle has now been cleared. All we need now is one final step and we should be greenlighted.

Must be one hell of a big step. I have a feeling there must be a flaming hoop that must be jumped through in order to get that last step taken... or maybe it is more like a limbo rod that is on fire, burning hot, blindingly bright, and held really low that you must “skootch” under in order to take that last step.

...or maybe it is just something as simple as an 800-pound gorilla standing in the way.

Almost. I believe it takes the form of a plastic credit card with an American address.

It's the simple things that get you, really.

Ah, yes, plastic with magnetic strips are a deadly combination.
