Hi
French fleet sorties from Rochefort and is spotted by English fleet on loose blockade and a battle ensue. As a result of battle three of French ships are wrecked and the rest is not damaged. Can the French player send the wrecks back to the port and leave the Rochefort's patrol zone with the rest of the fleet?

Yes the wrecked ships can (and should) be sent back to Rochefort. The only things that would prevent the rest of the fleet from continuing its move are if the majority (more than 50%) of the French fleet was wrecked, or if it precipitously withdrew. If either of those happens, the whole French fleet must return to port. If there were at least 6 ships in the French fleet when it sortied, and it didn't precipitously withdraw from the battle, it can continue moving.

The French fleet consisted of about 25-30 ships (136 firepower), battle lasted 2 turns and ended up with a draw.
