It says in the rule book that the small ladder as a bridge can cross the length of a half cube, but doesn't state for the larger ladder.
So what is the rule for this? I've been playing it as 1 and a half cube maximum crossing.
My last question is, lets say you use your long ladder as a bridge and half way across the bridge there is a cube height higher adjacent to the bridge ladder. Can you use your short ladder on top of your bridge ladder to climb on top of this cube?
Read the whole description of the rule: You must be able to place the ends of the ladder so that all four points are touching the same side (not a corner) of the beginning and ending surfaces.
The small ladder is called out, because that is the only way it can be used. The large ladder is more versatile. Check the illustration about bridges in the Alternate Rules section for an example.
Reading the rules, again, you can't have one end of a ladder touching another ladder. Both ends have to be touching block surfaces.
