Legion Wargames, the successor to Khyber Pass Games, announced on Consimworld last week that their stock of B-29 Superfortress games was down to less than 100. As of today, their web site says 75 copies remain. If you've been holding out on buying a copy, it may be wise to do so soon.

Also, Legion says their Hell Over Korea expansion to B-29 will be published later this year.

My opinion of B-29 was posted on Consimworld about a year ago, but I'll repost it here as well:

"I won a copy of this game as a result of the spring Consimworld fundraising drive, and man, am I ever glad I did! I've played this game more than any other tabletop game I can think of over the last several years. I find that I like it better than B-17 Queen of the Skies, which I hadn't played in ages but that we pulled out at a friend's house a while ago for face-to-face play. I had forgotten how drab the B-17 counter graphics were - the counters for B-29 put them to shame. Also, I find that when it comes to combat, less is more. There's so much air combat in B-17 that it becomes routine, and hence loses its sense of tension. I find I dread fighter and flak hits in B-29 much more than I did in B-17, in part because they are much less common and thus seem much more dangerous. I also really like the fuel management aspect of B-29, and the decisions that it forces as the game progresses. Should I burn fuel dodging these thunderstorms, or just plow through them and hope for the best? Should I land on Iwo Jima at night and in bad weather, or proceed to a daytime landing in the Marianas and hope I don't waste any extra fuel on navigation errors en route that may force us to ditch in the Pacific?

While B-29 is more complicated than B-17, I don't see that as either a positive or a negative. The fact is that I really like this game. Enough, in fact, to pre-order Hell Over Korea and to join Steve Dixon's online B-29 campaign after just finishing up my solitaire 35-mission campaign. If there are any fence-sitters reading this, my recommendation is for you to buy this game."

Correction: Per Randy Lein on Consimworld, as of July 22 there are now only 68 copies left.

Jeff, Correction to your correction, as of today it's less than 60 copies remaining.

Thanks for giving folks here the heads up about the low stock of B-29. It has certainly been the most popular game I have been involved in the production of. As for the counter graphics I am very glad you liked them and I have to cite the "Flying Mule" for giving me permission to use their photos as the basework for the fighters. Since there aren't a lot of counters in the game I decided to make them 4x the size of a normal counter to emphasis the graphics. The one area where I feel I didn't quite hit the mark was the map, but Brandon Pennigton as certainly done that with the map for Hell Over Korea.

Next project currently in the works by Steve and Shawn, Bombs Away!

That's it guys, this game is now Out of Stock as I have sold the last copy I have available. There will undoutably be a few copies floating around at various online retailers and some brick and mortar stores but for me this one is done and the shelves are bare. And just in time for the expansion module, Hell Over Korea, which is entering production in the next few weeks and will be available later this year.
