To be sure, the deadline here is Oct 1?

That depends. How many people will be able to play more than two or three of the games before then? I'm thinking of stretching the deadline to, say October 15th.

I would appreciate the time extension. I have only got a chance to play one game so far.

Here is the poll for voting. Please be sure to rate every game. The scores will be added up, and the game with the highest total number of points wins! (In the event of ties, the pot will be split.)

Sorry for the late thoughts, as I see that voting has already begun--but what do you think about adding a question about how effectively and creatively the entries made use of the required ingredients? I thought including something like that might better reflect the spirit and premise of the contest.

(Also, if I'd known that ease of construction would be a criterion I might have designed my game a little differently, but that's my problem ...)

How are the trials going? I haven't seen much activity lately and I'm wondering how people are doing putting the games together and such.

I'm working my way through the games that can be played solitaire. I'm scratching my head as to how I'm going to be able to play the multiplayer games...

Final day for voting - there are some very entertaining games in this contest, and you still have the better part of a day to Print-Play-Vote, so get to it

I'm working on tallying the scores based on all the votes. It may take a few days--I've got midterms right now

Okay, everybody, I think I have the final tally of all the scores. I'm going to double-check all of my math during my English class. (Irony!) I do want to have a quick discussion about the prizes, though, because some of these numbers are... interesting.

So here's a question for all the designers who submitted a game: Would you prefer to keep the current prize structure (dividing the 398 GG prize pot between the top three submissions in a 3-2-1 ration), or would you prefer to see some side prizes? For example, we could have a "Best Art" prize for the game that had the highest average rating in the art category (question 3), or "Most Fun" for the game that rated best in the fun category (question 1).

I'm asking partially because the prize pot is larger than I expected it to be, and I, for one, would prefer to share the wealth among a larger number of people, and partially because the game with the highest art rating was right in the center of the pack overall.

I could go either way, I just want to know what the general consensus is among the designers.

[edit]Also, what are the thoughts on a consolation prize for the lowest-rated game submission?

Yeah, I agree that more prizes would be better unless that will take you an extra long time to put together.

It shouldn't. I have all the numbers, I just need to double-check and collate them.

Out of curiosity, are you just adding up the points each game accrued in votes? And then subdividing into categories?

Here's what I'm thinking at the moment:

300 GG can go towards first, second and third places: 150GG for 1st, 100 for 2nd, 50 for 3rd.

The remaining 98 GG gets split up into side prizes:

25GG for Best Art
25GG for Most Fun
15GG for Easiest to Create
15GG for Clearest Rules
18GG for Lowest-Rated Game

Thoughts? Is this fair?
