A thin sheet of plexiglass is your friend.

I prefer paper maps to cardboard ones. Mounted maps are also nice.

Don't let the misperceived "cheapness" of the cardstock mapboard convince you not to buy this game. It's one of the best block games out there with a "fog of war" aspect to it, and the map itself is absolutely beautiful, IMO.

Get a thin sheet of plexiglass at Home Depot and you are good to go.

Thanks for the picture link and replies. Looks great!

I am totally fine with the cardstock.
The map board for Hammer of the Scots is gorgeous and serves the purpose great. (I seriously love that game.)

I just do not want a thin paper one, cause I would be afraid of ripping it, and I don't really have any space for plexiglass.

sigh...now another game I MUST pick up.

laugh

P.S.
How about them Bruins!! Stoked finally one of the teams I root for brought The Cup home, now if just the Sharks will get it together. heh heh

Re: Segway to Slapshot
Since I'm offered such a nice segway into hockey here, I going to plug Slapshot, now back in print after many years.

The legendary game of ice hockey loonery, a classic design by Tom Dalgliesh, is hilarious fun. But it has a lot more going on than meets the eye. Multiplayer, easy to learn, but yet hard to master.

Hell Yah! Go B's! I play the Marchmont-Sedin bobble-head fight on loop when I get depressed. Cheers me up every time.

Marchmont!

(in case you are unaware, a well known [ESPN?] sports writer referred to Marchand in the preseason last year during a radio interview as "Marchmont", asking "Who is this guy? I don't think Marchmont will even make the team..." Blah blah blah. The radio station has played it ad nauseum ever since.)

Too bad "Slapshot" was not offered up in the 99 cent trial going on over at Columbia games. I'd have jumped all over that. Might buy it anyway...

FYI: Richard III is quite an awesome block game.
