I had not played the Philippi scenarios yet, but after reading the Osprey book "Philippi, the death of the Roman Republic", I wanted to give them a try... However, when I saw the first scenario setup it looked like a mirror image of the battlefield!

A similar map can be easily found in Wikipedia too. However, the scenario looks like this:

No one had noticed this before? Or are there alternative sources for the battle site? I don't think so, since the mountains were on the north, the marshes on the south and the triunvirs came from the west. I played the scenario anyway, but I think the next time I'll try a mirror image of it:

Also, I wonder what are the impassable hills in the middle of the Philippi II scenario map:

I couldn't find them on the history books I have, the impassable hills on Philippi I were (should have been) to the north, and the second battle took place to the south of Philippi...

(As noted on my username, I'm mostly disconnected in summer...) snore

I have to agree. The maps I see are the reverse of the CCA map.

So, flip Philippi!

OK, I flipped Philippi!

(it is just the mirror image of the official scenario, so game-play should be strictly the same)
